A. Arriving at Münchener Hauptbahnhof (Main Train Station)

By U-Bahn (subway):

Take subway U1 to Kolumbusplatz or U2 to Neuperlach Süd and get off at the next stop, Sendlinger Tor. From here take subway U6 to Garching-Forschungszentrum, which is the final station (ca. 30 minutes).

Alternatively, take any S-Bahn to Marienplatz or Ostbahnhof, but leave the train at the station Marienplatz (this will take only 3 minutes). Here, also take the subway U6 to Garching-Forschungszentrum.

By S-Bahn:

Take the S-Bahn S8 Ismaning; Here, get on bus no. 230 which takes you to the stop at the MI-Building on Campus Garching.

By Bus:

Bus no. 230: Ismaning (S8) - Garching TU; operation of bus no. 230 is only on weekdays in intervals of 40 minutes. Busses sometimes wait for a delayed S-Bahn up to 8 minutes.

 

B. From Airport München

Arriving in Munich at the airport, you have to look for the S-Bahn signs. Get on the S8 to Hauptbahnhof. At the third station, called Ismaning, leave the S-Bahn and take the bus no. 230. Get off the bus at stop at the MI-Building on Campus Garching.

 

C. By Car

If you arrive from the south (e.g. the city) or from the north (e.g. the airport) you preferably take highway no. 9 (A9). Leave the highway at the exit Garching Nord (exit 70) and from there (either to the right or left) straight;go straight at the next traffic lights, following the sign to Forschungsinstitute. There are parking opportunities at the left-hand side of the Ludwig-Prandtl-Straße.
